I know it sounds crazypants.... but Mironov and Zadorov as a pair. I know I know you cant give that guy top pairing minutes but you know what, this season is gonna go down the drain in a hurry here, might as well see what you have in the guy and playing w a good Dman that can talk and communicate w him out on the ice will help a lot cause otherwise he's a disaster given the language barrier. otherwise Miro will be paired w some guy like Barrie/Girard that Mironov will get beat trying to just be the one D guy back there. also you cant pair him w Nemeth cause he makes everyone look bad. I say at least try that pair and see what happens. I mean when Z and Miro were together its how Mironov got his first goal and looked good in an Av's uniform. roll the dice and see what happens

Its been a great run, they have already exceeded all expectations. Injuries suck, but good teams still find a way. Im not a fan of Yak sitting, I wonder why he's in the dog house?

Good grief. You'd think after all this time Siemens could actually be worth
something ! I agree with sitting Yak all the time. I am sure he is lazy away from the puck and all but not sure why he is always in the dog house. And Greer also seems
to be in Bednars doghouse. Hopefully the offense can start to catch fire,
because that is the only way they are taking out the Wild or Ducks for the
final spot etc. Nobody seems to go on losing streaks is all.

Did the Avs use up all their luck for the year during the 10 game winning streak?
Does the bad luck with injuries even it out?

I need a math nerd to tell me if the Avs have any good luck points to take into the draft lottery.

Greer has had plenty of opportunities and done nothing with them to stand out. He hasn't been a liability which is ok but he needs to contribute. He'll get there soon enough but I can't really think of anyone he's outplayed to earn a spot.

not sure what the Siemens point is about.

He was already called up as the 7th Dman when the injuries happened, now he will draw into the line up, probably rotating in and out with Miro and War.

I think Greer has been showing better and better every call up he has. He is only 21 years old and this is his second year of Pro hockey and Development. People need to calm down with him.

I agree, he is going to fill out nicely as a 3rd line Winger in time. He does not look out of place when he plays at this level. He hasn't stolen anyones spot currently but that doesnt mean he won't be soon

Meaning that you would think by now this guy could actually play NHL
level hockey and help the Avs. Maybe they can fetch a draft pick for him
because he's just not going to be a part of their plans it seems.
Would rather just insert Meloche into the lineup and one of the other D
man whoever wins the battle at this point.

no point in rushing Meloche. He is getting good minutes in SA now, calling him up to be 3rd pairing, healthy scratch while the Avs try to weather an injury storm is not the answer. Team already has 7 rookies on the roster currently. Baby steps and cant over do it at the NHL level

Its not about making the Wild Card this year. Build up what we can, learn from it. Sell off some assets and trust the process going into next year.

Avs have a lot of talent coming, just think where this team will be next year when you have Meloche, Timmons, and maybe Makar as your call up depths or rookies inserting into the line up.

A healthy Kamenev...then guys like Greer, maybe even Bowers and Morrison as dudes fighting for roster spots. Add in Avs 1st rounder this year, Sens Top 10 pick in 2018 or 2019 bc they won't be good next year either. As well as 2 2nd round picks this year.

Team has a flux of 23 and under talent that will make up 3/4 of this roster. Its exciting fun times

I was a big Siemens guy, but man did he have a Bigras moment and was a deer in the headlights when he got his second shot to fill some minutes. I mean yeah he had that one good game when he got a point and threw his weight around and got in that fight. but he had a bad string of games where he couldnt handle....the pressure

Don’t forget the $25 in cap space next year with only (Maybe) Nieto to resign.

Hello JVR, John Carlson and Paul Stastny

Landy - MacK - Rants
JVR - Stastny - Andrigetto

Id love Carlson and JVR. Stastny? No thanks. Makes too much and doesnt deserve the 7M he's getting. He is probably the "smartest" NHL player of all time, cash in when its your contract year and do nothing until the next time your contract expires. Avs have to be careful to not hand out too many long term deals because we have a lot of our young kids to re sign in a season or 2.

Amazingly, Sakic has been great at creating real long term flexibility. Next year is $25M and the following year, which is a big RFA year for the Avs and a great FA class, they have $45M.

I really like JVR because they could use that one great scoring winger. I love Carlson because it buys time to let Makar get ready, and likely replaces Barrie in another year on the blue line.

I can’t see Stastny getting 7M again, but $5.5 for 3 years...
